Bio – Jon Allen

(Producer)

(im+m Alumnus, Class of 2001 )

Jon worked for instructional media + magic from 2001 through 2007, and continues to work with the im+m team on an ad hoc basis.  As a producer Jon developed and produced educational media and provided user experience design, event organization and cat-sitting services.

Jon organized the first visit of Moodle president, Martin Dougiamas, to the United States.  He coordinated meetings between   both Martin and U.S. Moodle partner remote-Learner.net president Bryan Williams, with various education organizations in Washington DC, including the U.S. Department of Education [ED], PESC and the Chronicle of Higher Education.  Jon provided this guidance to others from the U.K., Canada, and the U.S.

Jon lead the coordination of 4 “Moodlemoots” in the U.S. and U.K. He also directed the recording, editing and broadcast of the audio from all sessions, developed printed resources and created DVDs of keynote speakers Martin Dougiamas and Jason Cole  for both North American and European educators.

Jon also contributed to the user experience of uPortal 2.x, developing the default user interface, XSL middleware and writing the user and administrator manuals.

After relocating to the San Francisco bay area, Jon continued to provide Moodle and eLearning training services with Jason Cole and remote-Learner.net.

Jon is currently working at PayPal as a Training Coordinator.  He develops training processes, creates online training materials, supports instructor-led training and manages the LMS [Learning Management System] for their Technology Education team, overseeing over 4,800 learners.  He enjoyed the experience of pushing the envelope of distance and eLearning processes and tools at im+m, and is working to bring that same experience to technology training at PayPal.
